Mark your 2010 calendars with the "7th Annual Georgetown Nature Fest" Saturday, April 24, 2010, Georgetown Nature Area, Georgetown, California, in the Sierra Foothills, east of Sacramento.  It's a celebration of everything "nature" and "native" with live music, drums, singing, dance, storytelling, poetry, arts, crafts, food, fry bread, Indian tacos, vendors, info booths, children's activities, and native cultural activities and/or workshops.  As usual, a FREE, family-friendly, fun and educational event.

 

This year's event will be hosted by Friends of the Nature Area (FONA), the El Dorado County Indian Council (EDCIC), KFOK Community Radio, in partnership with the Georgetown Divide Recreation District.  Plans are in the works for an evening, fundraising Spring Concert to benefit KFOK and the EDCIC's college scholarship fund.

This wonderful family event includes: The Hawkins School of Performing Arts and the Aloha Dancers will be providing dance performances. The musical performances are geared toward preschool through sixth grade-aged children, but older kids can enjoy them too, according to Doss. Parents are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for seating during the performances. “The children can enjoy the show and be with their parents,” Doss said. “They can move around and not be required to be seated.”
